Since 2017, we have been supporting audiobook productions of various genres in our recording studio near Bonn – from children's books and medical literature to guidebooks, non fiction and biographies. We work directly with narrators and publishers to offer reliable, tried-and-tested support from the first line to the finished master. The goal is an audiobook that sounds clear, warm, and pleasant for hours on end.

The production of an audiobook places special demands on voice, direction, and technology. Our recording room offers daylight, fresh air, and an electrically height-adjustable speaker's desk with a sound-absorbing surface – ideal for long sessions. Technically, we rely on high-quality tube microphones, excellent microphone preamps, and modern plugins. We record an unprocessed (“raw”) track and a processed track with EQ / compressor in parallel to ensure maximum flexibility in post-production.

Recording an audiobook – relaxed and efficient sessions

Recording an audiobook is a marathon. To ensure that the voice remains stable over hours, we provide a quiet working environment with visual contact between the control room and the recording booth. Speakers can adjust the volume themselves at any time using a headphone amplifier (Rupert Neve Designs). A lounge and – in good weather – an outdoor area allow for relaxing breaks, so that focus and performance remain consistently high.

Creating audiobooks – everything from a single source

On request, we can take care of the entire audiobook production process. This includes precise editing (removing slips of the tongue, mouth noises, and background noise), sound fine-tuning, mixing, and mastering. We deliver broadcast-ready files that are technically optimized for popular platforms such as Audible, Spotify, and Apple Books, as well as on CD and MP3-CD.

What is included in audiobook production & postproduction?

What technology do you use for audiobook recordings?

We use tube microphones from Neumann, Bock Audio, and Dave Pearlman, high-quality (tube) preamps from IGS and Avedis Audio, state-of-the-art plugins for production and post-production, and, of course, an acoustically optimized recording room with natural light and fresh air.

Can I have my audiobook recorded by you if I am a publisher or self-publisher?

Yes. We work directly with both publishers and authors – from recording to post-production.

How long does it take to produce an audiobook?

This depends on the total playing time of the audiobook and the desired work steps. For extensive projects, we schedule several days of recording plus time for editing and mastering.

Can I send files from another studio?

Yes. Upon consultation, we also take on the post-production of existing voice recordings and finalize them for release.
